Statists love rail travel. It limits where the citizen can go and they can check papers at both ends.

I loved it when Huckabee laid into Obamas re-peated reference that this and other programs were “investments”.
And when I bought ENRON stock I was told IT was an investment.

I haven’t watched much of The Simpsons, but somehow I managed to watch the “Monorail” episode twice. I hear “high speed rail” and it brings back memories of Phil Hartman saying, “monorail...monorail...” set to The Music Man. If you haven’t seen it, it ended badly as a financial disaster. Perhaps it was prophetic.

Obama is getting desperate, he has to initiate the big development jobs that MUST involve unionized labor.
The unions across America are afraid that the political climate has indeed changed so far and fast that they are now in the spotlight. Just look at another thread about the SEIU organizing solidarity events all across America.
Its no wonder Obama is pushing for high speed rail, its one of the most heavily unionized sectors of industry in America.

An actual high-speed rail system that would provide a reliable alternative to air travel at short and medium distances would be a good thing, but the proposal is for a system no faster than interstate travel, which would have the inconvenience of travel at either end with no improvement in travel time over driving.
The present proposal is just silly.

Thanks for posting this. My Congressman, John Mica is really pushing for high-speed rail. He has a nearly perfect conservative voting record- except for this ONE issue. I will call his office this week and again ask if he is aware of all these connections.

The video is well done. But you do not have to watch it to know that High Speed Rail is a boondogle. More government, useless enterprise, borrowed money, endless payments by taxpayers.

High speed rail is needed to connect the UN’s sustainable communities.

For anyone who'd care to venture into the belly of the beast, a quick mention of the high speed rail thing, and a whole lot more....

How many unions will be interwoven into High-Speed Rail?Steel Workers Union, Communications Workers, IBEW, AFL-CIO, Teamsters (well .. someone has to haul in the supplies), & since the GO-bama-ment is going to run it the SEIU/AFSME. That's my stating list.
