I think Reagan is probably the second or third greatest President, depending on where one puts Lincoln. However, I strongly believe that Washington is American’s greatest President. To step down from power after only 8 years was at the time unprecedented in human history, and it created a tradition of two-term Presidents that was a major contributor to the stability of the young Republic, steering us clear of the dangers of executive dicatorship all the way up until that socialist dictator FDR dismantled the tradition.

I personally doubt Reagan would rate himself above Washington, nor would he accept such a rating from others.

This poll is ludicrous and you are right Reagan would declare the same. Reagan faced no challenge anywhere close to those Washington, Lincoln or FDR faced not even close. He never had to create a new nation (while his Secretary of State was stabbing him in the back at every opportunity) or preserve the Union under attack by the Slave Power or fight wars on two oceans.
