Oh well. All of this and they are having a Battle Royal over 60 Billion of cuts. We are done for. 60 Billion is a mere drop in the bucket. What they are really fighting about is who can get the biggest share of the Loot. Looks like we have a lot more work to do next year. Til then we might as well take a vacation.

If the government was shut down - would any one miss it? Republicans should not back down. There is a political cost of course but giving up on their key signature initiative would be a betrayal of the voters who sent them to Washington. If we’re not going to cut spending now, it will never happen.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) attacked the Republicans' bill, which she contends will “destroy jobs.”

This coming out of the mouth a Speaker that stated "unemployment is a great economic stimulator" .....snip...."It is the biggest bang for the buck when you do food stamps and unemployment insurance. The biggest bang for the buck," she said. "Pelosi fires back at Gingrich over food stamps

Unless I don't understand the English language very well, I would think the loss of jobs would be great for the economy (according to this dumbell RAT).

$61 billion? Rather like spittin’ in the ocean, IMO.

It’s time for substantive cuts, driven by pushing the Federal leviathan back within the confines of the Constitution.

Of course, the pubbies couldn’t even muster the intestinal fortitude to force an additional $20 billion, so I’m not hopeful that we’ll see significant change prior to 2013.

For so many years both sides of the aisle have allowed the hole to become so deep it is now impossible to fill. How can anyone expect us to do away with hundreds of billions of dollars of waste just in a few months of a new congress.
AT least the new majority is taking a stab at it.
