Presumably, you’re referring to the sniper killing of the three perps, right? That was purportedly done without the express approval of the Messiah and he was purportedly very upset. Seems the ship’s Captain had been given discretion to handle the situation as he felt proper.

The rescue action came after the Defence Department twice asked Mr Obama for permission to use military force in a rescue attempt.

Mr Obama first gave permission around 8 p.m. (0000 GMT) Friday, and upgraded it at 9:20 a.m. (1320 GMT) Saturday.
