RE :”I agree. It’s easy to communicate with you, unlike crony-capitalism-defenders and GWB defenders, who find no fault with how the TARP “evolved:

Thanks, usually I get told to go back to DU :) well not recently forunately. I try to be honest and learn from others.

I bumped into that Obama defender at the gym and there was no reasoning with him. He was mirror image of those you mention, “Bush (alone) screwed everything up. It will take Obama years to fix it”. Reason would not work with him (and I give Bush part of the blame as you know) so I reminded him how everything went to hell after Democrats took over congress. That threw him as he doesnt hear that from his liberal media. So he asked me what would have happened if Republicans were in charge in 2009, diverting the argument away from Democrats. So I played Hannity for fun and replied “Unemployment 3%, Balanced budget, paid off national debt, win the WOT, democracy around the world. End of all illness and hunger. Energy independence...” . The only problem was I was laughing as I said it. I also told him Obama is promoting Democracy by starving the world with high food prices.

The morale is much of the country is split into two different universes : Hannity (Koolaid) and Obama/MSNBC Koolaid and each sees their party as pure and they only listen to the people that tell them what they want to hear. Then there are the others who dont know anything.

Have you talked to many high school students lately? Most are pretty incapable of that kind of articulate speech. The kid is clearly naive and inexperienced, but it’s also pretty clear he is anything but a mush brain.

To tell you the truth, I would be surprised if kids even have any interest at all in politics, that is, today’s teens.
