But the behavior of the international media in Tahrir Square proves that reporters are by and large brave.

Not necessarily. They could have been so arrogant, and so full of their belief that they would be treated as allies, that they thought they were immune from harm.

.....Israelis, Jews, Americans, white males [Americans] and rich people are the predetermined perpetrators.....

They forgot Serbs and other Orthodox and Eastern Catholic (e.g., Maronite) Christians!!!!

A hasty conclusion, that journalists are brave. There are other explanations.

This is a GREAT piece. Thanks.

Identity politics are nothing more than socially acceptable bigotry. Those who practice it are racist bigots who have replaced liberal values that hold everyone to the same moral and criminal standards with illiberal values that judge people’s morality and criminality by the identity group with which they are most readily associated.

Like, they underestimated the danger. That they thought being reporters made them invulnerable. I read one story about a bunch that were threatened yelling REPORTERS WE’RE REPORTERS

You are correct.

Arrogance = safety

The key they are missing. The most important fact of all is that American Media is viewed with disdain because Arabs believe it is Jewish controlled.

They will not tolerate Jews freely roaming around among them spouting lies

Israelis, Jews, Americans, white males and rich people are the predetermined perpetrators.

I know this won't be a popular observation, but thirty years of massive media attention on Jews murdered by the NAZIS, with minimal acknowledgment of the 14 million other people who died at the fascists' hands, proved the effectiveness of victimization as a media strategy. The perception among Arabs became, right or wrong, that one of the reasons Israel gained so much support in the six day war was their successful portrayal in the media as an underdog. Palestinians then pursued that public image with a vengeance, ironically popularized in large part by self-hating Jewish communist activists and mediots abroad.

Great article. I am sick and tired of lies by journalists, and by having to be part of the correct victim group to get any empathy for suffering.

Because the media....including the Liberal RINO Media at Fox News and other faux-conservative sites....panders to Muslims.

No one calls it “ISLAMIC TERROR” or “ISLAMIC TERRORISM...no one calls out Islam for its atrocities. Even the Liberal RINO term “Radical Islam” is PC....”Radical Islam” just provides cover for all Muslims. The ones that call it “Radical Islam” also make the comment “Islam is a Religion of Peace”

It is “Islamic Terror” and “Islamic Terrorism”....any deviation of the term just lessens the impact of the damage caused by Islam.

There will be a lot more western media attacked if we continue to pander to Muslims. Islam is a Faith of Hate and a Cult of Insanity....referring to it as anything less is Liberal PC.

Note that the Islamic world has not condemned the attack on Lara Logan. If these were Christian males that did it....the Vatican and Focus on the Family headquarters would have been nuked by now. We give feral Muslim males a pass on their atrocities

The author should go read the Kos thread that had 300+ posts dealing with this, and for every sympathetic one towards the reporter, two were written by psychopaths looking for any hint of “islamophobia.”

Yes, it IS a great piece. I've forwarded the link to my entire mailing list. It also reminds me of a recent John Stonestreet conference in which he noted a survey that more than 53 per cent of college faculty members believe that Christians should not be allowed to hold public office. These same faculty members "are unsure if Muslims should also be prohibited from holding public office."

" I read one story about a bunch that were threatened yelling REPORTERS WE’RE REPORTERS."

In most countries, reporters have special rights. When those were yelling "we are reporters," they were informing the police that their own government had granted special rights.

You are reading too much into this episode.

Rosen is a virulent anti-Semitic Jew (he attended an Orthodox Jewish day-school in New York). He has gone so far as to call for the carpet bombing of Tel Aviv.

Sometimes, "dumb" is mistaken for "brave".

“Bill O’Reilly highlights the danger of radical Islamic terrorism and argues that Americans “are in no mood for politically correct nonsense about the Muslim threat.”

“Despite his apologies to those who were offended by Bill O’Reilly’s statement on The View,” regarding his comment that opposition to Park 51 is fine and dandy because “Muslims attacked us on 9-11,” Bill O’Reilly still has no problem painting Muslims with a very broad brush. His “apology,” prefixed with “if you were offended,” suggests that he has no problem with his belief that those who attacked us on 9-11 weren’t Muslims whose views were radicalized – but, rather, a reflection of Islam.”

Easy. Cairo is Woodstock. Kumbaya! To project any violence is to undue the joyous liberation! Rape? Just a momentary anomaly.

Bill O’Reilly is not letting the issue of Muslim go, even if it cost him Joy Behar’s company on The View. O’Reilly invited Ahmed Rehab of the Council on American-Islamic Relations on the program earlier tonight for a lively debate in which he accused Rehab of dodging his question on whether Iran is a threat to America, Ahmed alleged the same thing about his Iranian question, and it didn’t get much more conciliatory from there.
Rehab opened the conversation up aggressively, correcting a statement made on Friday’s Juan Williams-hosted Factor that the Muslim community had not responded to the conviction of the failed Times Square bomber. O’Reilly thanked him for the correction but once again asked Rehab to respond to what he perceives to be the biggest threat posed by the international Muslim community, the Iranian state. “Let me ask you this,” Rehab responded, “how many countries has Iran attacked in the past 50 years?” O’Reilly responded with historic notes from the Iran-Iraq War and sternly warned Rehab, “let’s not play games here.” This prompted a back-and-forth in which both parties accused the other of dodging the question, while Rehab interrupted by clarifying that he is “not a fan of the Iranian regime… I just don’t like it when you exaggerate the reality.”

O’Reilly agreed to a “gentleman’s disagreement” with Rehab on whether the “good Muslims sit it out” or are vocal enough against extremism, an incredibly agreeable tone considering the extent to which the two challenged each other’s opinions during the segment.
