An attorney for a Burnsville man accused of threatening to blow up an Amtrak train in Montana on Thursday pledged a vigorous defense for his client.
Hussein Hassan, 24, was arrested Monday night amid blizzard conditions in northwestern Montana, where the westbound Empire Builder was halted. Hassan is accused of being drunk and unruly on the train.
Hassan later suggested in an empty threat to a sheriff's deputy that he left a bomb on the train, according to the charges. That prompted the evacuation of 140 or so passengers in blizzard-like conditions and delayed its trek to Washington and Oregon by 11 hours.

Strap him to the front of the engine and give him a free ride out to Washington or wherever that Empire Builder goes.
The dang Amish are at the root of all evil...
Maybe he was angry because the free wi-fi was slow. Has anybody seen Willie?
More proof they are not fit to live in civilized societies.
That be YOUR alcohol, matey.
What has my interest is......
“the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office said that federal authorities are preventing it from releasing Hassan’s jail mug shot.”
In sub-zero weather like those passengers had to endure. The Empire Builder goes from Seattle to Chicago. Two and a half days. One segment leaves from Portland, OR, and connects up at Spokane. Then it becomes one looooong train to Chicago. The do that in reverse heading west.
So if it was an empty threat, why did they evacuate the train?
Of course. If he is a muzzie then that’d be racist profiling anti-muzzie. Barry is keeping a close eye on this situation just like he’s doing for WI.
Oh, and add terrorist threat to the charge. I can understand a lawyer taking up his defense but to make it a ‘vigorous’ defense??? Like he’s some kind of minority?
There are 2 things I hate.
Religious stereotyping and
muslims on my train.
It was an empty threat after 8 hours of searching the train turned up nothing. While the elderly, the very young and those with medical conditions were forced to evacuate during blizzard conditions.
From an earlier article......
“Hassan then asked where his bag was. Told that he did not leave the train with a bag, Hassan laughed and said, “Damn fools, all of you. ... You did not find my bag? ... No one will survive on that train.” He then resumed laughing.
Hassan told the deputy that the bag held something dangerous and indicated it was a bomb.”

Only thing worse than an angry Muslim is an angry drunk Muslim!
;-)
For the morons in Washington who think that we need more passenger trains, it is only a matter of time before people will have to go through the same security hassles at train stations that we have at airports.
A “Burnsville man” named “Hussain Hassan” ?
Sounds like a native to me !
