In effect, it is those who are protesting who actually would prefer the end result to be teacher layoffs so that at least for the school boards' spending priorities and the remaining teachers they would be employing, all their perks and prerequisites would remain in place; and they could thereby help create "smaller class size" conditions that they claim are so "damaging to eduction". From the point of view of the protesters, in their logic, its a win win situation.
I don't know, is it just me or does the above make no sense? I thought that if you lay off teachers you have larger class sizes....lol.

Sometimes my fingers are taking the point of view from one way of speaking, and my mind the other.
I MEANT to say:
“which they would use to create the claim that THE BUDGET CUTS hurt “smaller class size” objectives, and thereby created conditions that they say are damaging to education. When in fact. the larger class size conditions would the result of their policy preferences - keep their collective bargaining rights and compensation levels, requiring state funding cuts that can result in layoffs.”
