“GOP senators were hiding out”
I am fairly certain that was the Democrats, and it was two years ago.
The “hes caught in bed with a live [boy’, or a dead woman quote was about the Governor of Louisiana, many years ago.
I still stand by the rest of the story; because it's “etched in my brain”. The interview was on CBC radio & it was probably the first and only time that the interviewer was flummoxed.
I've known for some time (but not at the time of the interview) that the quote was originally from Huey Long — but, that was the first I'd heard the expression, so it really had an impact. The Senator (D) did alter it, and did say “live man” (not boy) or “dead woman” (not girl). I suspect that using “boy” and “girl” would have crossed over the line.
