A Cairo teenager found a priceless statue of Pharaoh Akhenaton near a garbage bin after it was stolen from the Egyptian Museum during anti-regime protests, Egypt's antiquities chief said Thursday. The museum's world renowned collection was burgled and several artifacts went missing last month, including statues of King Tutankhamun and Pharaoh Akhenaton. Had no gold on it so the worthless POS muslim thief chucked it.
How Muslim Egyptians appreciate their ancient heritage. Steal it and throw it away.
This limestone statue of pharaoh Akhenaten holding an offering table is among the missing after the museum was broken into during last week's demonstrations.
Egypt is an ancient country with a very long history and therefore its artifacts, relics should be treasured, not trashed.
That is the importance of Museums of History which in many ways are far more important than Museums of Art although great art should be treasured as well.
We should melt down all thier gold trinkets and use it to pay the debt if you ask me.
Anything pre-Mohammed and non-Muslim is trash to them. I am surprised that the Louvre has not been trashed.
Akhenaton was Eighteenth Dynasty, not Thirteenth. Can’t these reporters even use the Wikipedia for some basic fact checking?
Of course not. Facts get in the way of reporting. /s
If the Muslims ever took over in France, they would certainly burn down the Louvre.
Also, this is why Mubarak’s head of antiquities is so prickly, as a lot of Freepers were saying the other day. Because he knows that many or most Egyptians would just as soon destroy all that stuff in the museums if they ever got a chance. It only survived the early days of Muslim Egypt under the caliphate because most of it was still hidden underground back then.
I always get a kick out of the phony whining about “foreigners looting our heritage” by these second and third world countries. I’ll bet most of the historic artifacts that exist do so because the westerners preserved them. It seems that every time the locals get possession, the items either disappear or deteriorate.
Welcome to the new Egypt.
“And there was a man, next to the statue. A dead man. And his face was frozen in terror, as if he had seen something so horrible that it had turned his hair white... And his chest had been crushed... And there were pieces of bandage scattered about. Old bandages, half rotted away, and dust... And the smell of burned Tannis leaves.”

You’ll probably have much rejoicing over this article.

Islam has a major disregard for trashing pre-Islamic culture. I am surprise it does not get that much attention.
