What do you call the parents of Jackie Coogan?

What do you the women who worked at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory on n March 25, 1911?

What do you call a Jewish “slave” at the end of the seventh year?

What do you call Anthony Johnson, of colonial Virginia, in 1622? In 1626?

What do you call a member of the Falun Gong forced into working at some factory in China?

The naive notion that “all people are the same” is as American as Apple and PIE (St. Petersburg - Clearwater International Airport), and predates political correctness by decades, if not centuries. I’ve seen it expressed here.

What do you call the parents of Jackie Coogan?

Mr. and Mrs. Coogan.

What do you the women who worked at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory on n March 25, 1911?

What do I what?

What do you call a Jewish “slave” at the end of the seventh year?

Free. If he isn't Jewish, call him a slave, for that is what he remains. This is true even when the master dies, for he is considered to be inheritable property.

What do you call Anthony Johnson, of colonial Virginia, in 1622? In 1626?

1622-26, captured slave under a slavery system that provided for eventual release. Later, he was the first true slaveholder of a lifetime-bound slave in Virginia.

What do you call a member of the Falun Gong forced into working at some factory in China?

A criminal by his society's definition.

I have one for you. What do you call a Jewish master who beat his slave to death?

What do you call the same person if that slave lingered in agony for a day before finally dying from his master's beating?

I call you a cad. A thief and a liar. The missing word is “call”.

You don’t care what slavery means, nor a whit for any slave that ever got beaten.

Your Falun Gong response tells me that.

Still trying to lessen the truth that your religion condoned and regulated slavery?

Your restriction of the status of a “slave” after seven years to Hebrew slaves only shows that. You didn’t want to admit what happened to all non-Hebrew slaves.

Answer for you on my query: If a Jew beats his slave to death, he is punished. If the slave doesn’t die a quick death from the beating, but instead lingers in agony for a day or two before dying, then the slaveholder is without guilt.

You provide yet more proof of your motive — blinding hatred and loathing.

Grow up.

You’re the one who started asking stupid questions instead of just arguing your position.

You accused others of making excuses for slavery. That was not so of the others. They — joined by I — were explaining that there are many forms of slavery, and some are not so bad. At first, it seemed that you were a black-white thinker, incapable of seeing the middle, only seeing the extremes.

Slavery is a degraded condition for a human to be in, and owning slaves often little better or even worse. It seemed that being you were in that black-white and nothing in-between mode some headway might be made in the discussion by discovering what it was that you considered “slavery”. You answered, after some prodding, “involuntary servitude”.

But in answering the questions about few detailed circumstances of what might be called slavery it became clear that you have one ax to grind, and that ain’t about slavery. In fact, it appears you do not really care about the circumstances of fellow humans currently subjected to slavery — perhaps because it is slavery hiding under another name, in a culture you are positive or neutral about.

The ax you hotly wield in hatred is that of Jew hatred (or hatred of the long established legal and religious traditions of Jews). That grudge — hatred, jealousy, envy or whatever combination of same — blinds you.

Grow up.

I sense a great deal of paranoia and defensiveness in you.

But in answering the questions about few detailed circumstances of what might be called slavery

Ask stupid questions, get at least some stupid answers. I thought it was obvious with the first answer. I guess that flew right over your head.

Slavery in the Torah is regulated to the point of not being practiced. Slavery was for 7 years. And there was no permissable rape or use of slaves for sex. And as far as I know, it hasn’t been practiced for 2 millenia. On the other hand, Muslims still practice slavery.

Slavery was for 7 years.

Only Jewish slaves. No limit for non-Jews, who were slaves for life, inheritable property. In addition, a master could give a slave a wife so he has kids, and then at the time of freedom hold the wife and kids hostage to convince him to submit to lifetime slavery.

And there was no permissable rape or use of slaves for sex.

For example, Leviticus 19:20 regulates sex with slaves. Of course permissible rape and forced marriage of captives appears in many places in the Bible. All of this was common practice in the cultures of the area at the time.

And as far as I know, it hasn’t been practiced for 2 millenia.

Christians, in large numbers, were using the Bible to defend slavery as recently as the 1800s.

On the other hand, Muslims still practice slavery.

That was my point.
