Here is where our disagreement lies -— Secession SHOULD ONLY BE USED AS AN ULTIMATE LAST RESORT, AKIN TO CUTTING OFF YOUR LIMB IN ORDER TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.

I don’t believe we have to consider that yet. If an administration becomes like Stalin or Mao, I will join you.

But we are VERY FAR from that in this country and as much as I dislike Obama, I don’t believe he is like Stalin or Mao.

The Civil war cost us over 600,000 lives and countless misery in this country and no one wants that repeated, especially when many creative, peaceful alternatives exist.

> State Nullification of Federal Law has not worked in the past.

BUT -- there IS no federal law. Obamacare was declared unconstitutional and the entire law was voided. States' rights vs. a nonexistent federal law = states' rights win.

It’s hilarious how the MSM keeps referring to Kennedy as a “conservative”. This is a typical PC manuever to push the definition of “conservative” farther to the left so that they can marginalize real conservatives as “extremist”.

Kennedy wrote the majority opinion on a couple of activist left wing decisions. One was a “public domain” case that necessitated an whacky off-the -wall piece of word bending. This resulted in some poor slob’s house being handed over to a developer. Another wierd opinion he wrote decreed habeas corpus rights for foreign combatants, against extensive precedent, and contrary a law that was recently drafted to specifically to clarify this issue.

We already get shortchanged on federal subsidies (PORK) because we’re pretty reliably a conservative state.

Id say that letting it get to the point of a Stalin or Mao is letting it go WAY TO F’ing far.

Sorry.. I believe, as do many others, that what has already happened justifies a separation. And it wouldn’t be like cutting off an arm.. It would be more akin to cutting out a cancer.

Im not sure where you get the idea that we are inseparably tied to the population of this country that was weak minded enough to give up their freedom to the collective and then turn around and demand that we do the same. Im shocked by the attitude that there is some form of honor or duty in suffering through miserable subjugation to an oppressive state and its regulations, laws, fees and taxes because there is no hope of convincing a significant portion of the population that freedom is better than servitude.

Im also, frankly, mystified by the idea that we are only justified in reclaiming freedom if our tyrants turn to killing us en-mass. That is simply F’ing stupid to the point of mental deficiency.

Its a good thing that the course to be be taken will not be plotted by you or anyone like you.

We will choose secession not to save our lives, but to save something far more precious.... Our freedom... and the freedom of our families and future generations...

I hope nobody is talking secession ( as the states did during Lincoln’s time ) because we all know how that turned out....(SHUDDER). Not me (shudder)! I would love to see about 12-14 states pass similar nullification laws, and then if that doesn't work, according to the Declaration of Independence, it would be time to form a new union and reject our current socialist union. 0b0z0 & the demoRATs are p_____s, and don't have the balls or the courage to confront a challenge like this. Plus I believe that the number of patriots in America, including the military, far outweigh & outnumber the socialist-marxist demoRATs.

All of the 20 who voted against this should resign immediately. They don’t represent Idaho.

Looking forward to many more states doing the same.

Yes, the Court has ruled against virtually every nullification attempt, at least so the law profs claim.

I still think the nullification stance is worthwhile, for the reasons you mention.

If states say no and the feds try to force the issue, by withholding highway funds for instance (they’ve threatened that before), the Obamabot authoritarians in D.C. are just going to keep losing elections.

Just this afternoon the governor of Montana has announced that Montana will no longer abide by federal endangered species protection for the Canadian wolves that have been introduced into the state by the eco-maniac U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Governor Schweitzer announced that wolves that “feed on wild game herds”-—i.e. ALL wolves-—can now be killed without the shooter having to fear any state investigation or prosecution.

This is another instance, and a big one, of rejecting and in fact nullifying-by-decree of a federal reg. Schweitzer’s announcement echoes that of Idaho Governor Butch Otter a few months back. If the feds catch you shooting an elk, you are in trouble (this isn’t highly likely just because there aren’t that many USFWS enforcement types out in the hills). If the state officials see you or hear about it-—nada.

The story is front page at billingsgazette.com....I would post it but am clueless about the HTML process....

Not New Jersey....The legislature is rushing its implementation laws through and Christie is probably scared sh**less to veto it. If any of you think he’d be anything more than a less fiscally extravagant version of NoBama as President, think again. We have become a RINO reservation.

“I hope nobody is talking secession ( as the states did during Lincoln’s time ) because we all know how that turned out....(SHUDDER).”

Yea I think next time we should just nuke the *** out of Washington D.C. and for good measure burn New York City and Boston to the ground.

Seriously what a wiener... Nobody even mentioned secession but the moment we try to show the slited bit of independent thinking rather then blind obedience to the increasingly Marxist and entirely boundless(lawless) Federal Government someone accuses us of doing something that we perhaps really should do.(Secede)

Seriously man read this article by the author of the book that inspired nullification for the Idaho Legislator: http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2011/02/01/nullification-answering-the-objections/

He does a fantastic job.

If this brings war. So be it! From time to time throughout history there comes a time when the only option left is to stand and fight. If this happens to be such a time, then a fight they shall receive.

And abortion has cost us 60 million.

When is enough, enough?

Obama rammed Obamacare through. Obamacare has already been declared unconstitutional.

What else needs to be said that he is acting like a dictator by trying to impose a constitutional law requiring all of us to fund abortion?

Idaho has the right idea. Challenge Obama. Give him the choice of abiding by the will of the people, or enforcing his will by fiat.

KA goes along with all the rest and you have a solid state from the Pacific northwest all the way to TX.

“I... would very much like a website that has information about states (maybe tabular), that allows easy comparison of the states, such as:...”

Yes! I would very much like to see a state-by-state comparison. Add to your list:

* Homeschooling regulations as well as homeschooling support groups
* Business environment
* Educational levels
* Political makeup
* Levels of state debt
* Types of industry that are located there
* Census trends data — growth or decline
* Access to shipping, freight and other transportation for business
* Access to raw materials for manufacturing
* Earthquake risk levels
* Gardening calendar, primary crops grown
* High crime areas identified
* Universities worth attending
...And a bunch of others.

I would be willing to lend a hand if there’s enough interest in getting such a list going.
