It would be a bargain if the feds gave $2 billion for a train which only cost $2 billion dollars. The initial optimistic estimates required the state to toss on an additional $3 billion. But every government program has horrible overruns on the costs to build it and run it along with far fewer people paying to use it so the final cost to the people of Florida would probably be a lot more than that $3 billion.
Every governor should go through their entire budgets to see how many other projects exist where taking the federal bait is not worth getting a barbed hook through your lip.
