This doesn't make sense. It's generally agreed that the maximum amount of actual CASH that BM took from investors...not the fictional profits..was just over $20 billion...

I believe the $100B is accurate.
Refers to TOTALS Levy moved in and out-—not the actual amt “invested” at one time.
Such a large amount being moved might also reinforce the suspicion that Madoff was laundering Russian mob money.
