Place: Titusville, FL., Mustang GT at the stop light for the southbound I95 and hwy 50. Me, pole position. BMW 645i comes up behind me with attitude and impatient that I'm in front of him. Light goes green. I make the left turn and after making sure there is no westbound hwy 50 traffic wanting to go southbound onto I95, I floor it. So does the BMW. I'm pulling away smartly, and upon merging into the right southbound lane with no traffic behind, I throttle back to about 75. Wait for it....wait for it...the BMW comes up behind very close, whips into the left and smartly back in front of me and continues down the road and then throttles back to about the same speed about 3/4 mi ahead.

So, I'm thinking, is he gonna take the 528 eastbound? I ease the speed upon so that by the time he arrives at hwy 528, and gonna go eastbound, I'm right behind him on the cloverleaf. He reaches the top of the on ramp and floors it. I do to. I HAVE to smartly pull into the left lane, again, no traffic, and pass him. A car in the right lane ahead. I pass and throttle down to about 75 and ease into the right lane ahead of said car. The BMW........eases in behind me, remaining there til his exit about 6 miles down the road. He paid a good 25k more for his car. I'm pretty happy with what I paid for my GT.

Yeah but...yeah but...he'd beat you on the Autobahn.....yeah, so? When am I ever going to be in that position? when will he ever be in that position? This is the US.....buy for the US.

He makes more hp at a ridiculously high rpm.....not useful for the sprint.

The new 2011 GT was compared to the BMW M3 and was virtually in a dead heat in all categories, for a lot less money.

Mini just released a diesel version of the Countryman in Europe that gets 63 MPG. You can’t get it in the US. Why not?

I've driven on the Autobahn. Not much fun at night. No lighting on the road. The first time, it was in a driving rain storm with lots of big trucks. I was traveling from Brussels, Belgium to Kaiserslautern, Germany. The next day, I traveled from K-town to Landstuhl to work at Ramstein AFB. A more pleasant drive in the daylight. At the end of the week, it was time to drive to Frankfurt. Pretty normal "freeway" traffic. Stay right while the others blast by on the left. Not really exciting in a Hertz rental car.
