This has already been reported as untrue, by someone that actually contacted the prison:

CBS should know better than to report on a story from the Enquirer without independently verifying it.

I would believe the Enquirer before I would believe CBS. The Enquirer has an institutional terror of libel suits, and so generally gets iron clad confirmation before it runs a story—far more than other media in the US.

And combine that with prisons generally denying that uncontrolled acts of violence happen in them. That would open them up to lawsuits.
