Many freepers have the viewpoint that some cops like shooting dogs

I never heard that one...dad was a Marine, then a cop in Ft Apache in the Bronx..the 41st pct...nasty neighborhood at the time....one day he saw a hot dog push cart lady being harassed by an emaciated but large german shepherd that someone obviously never fed...he placed himself between the lady and the dog, the dog knocked him over, he broke his fall with his right hands and broke his wrist in the process....I would take a heck of a lot for Dad to pull his Model 10 S&W on a Dog, he loved them, God rest his soul.

Sounds like your Dad was a good cop. Today’s cops are trained to shoot dogs if they “feel” threatened.

My father was a Mounted policeman in Detroit. He was patrolling Belle Isle. (for those not familiar with Detroit its a island in the middle of the Detroit River and the whole island is a city park) and came out of the woods on his horse into a field. The girl on a rented horse yelled at him that she rented the horse from a stable on the island and it wouldn't get out of the field. It was eating. She had tried for 15 minutes to get it go move...

Dad got off his horse and lifted the girl off her stable horse and put her on his mount...He got on the horse and gave it a good kick and it started bucking for about 1 1/2 minutes and decided he wasn't going to buck off the horseman on his back. Dad got the reins of his horse and rode the girls horse back to the stable...

Horses are smart and know if they have someone on their back that doesn't know what they are doing...

The young gal was thrilled and had a story to tell the rest of her life....
