I consider Bill O’Reilly to be a moderate and Karl Rove is a right-leaning Republican, who I do think does deserve a lot of creit for preventing a Kerry presidency. Both do have their faults, and I don’t even know how Rove came in the conversation.
There are two distinct kinds of Birthers:
1) Those who put forth the notion that Barrack Obama was born elsewhere.
2) Those who have accepted the fact that he was born in Hawaii, but cling to the notion that he somehow isn’t a natural born citizen because of some issue with his father’s British citizenship, or because he was adopted by an Indonesian.
Both breeds (and I’m talking about those who actually believe this stuff, not the trolls that are here to “turn up the volume” of the birthers) suffer from the same symptom common to all conspiracy theorists. They may all (well, some, the “leaders” of the movement are a bunch of dim bulbs) be very bright individuals with very inquisitive minds, but they just cannot let go of their theories when new information comes to light that refutes their ideas. All new information must of neccessity be further proof of a cover-up.
When this first started breaking, I wanted it to be true, just like I wanted the moon landings to be faked and I wanted their to be a shooter on the Grassy Knoll. It’s great to be outraged when you’re being lied to. But we did go to the moon, Oswald did act alone, and Obama was born in Hawaii. Reality sucks. You just have to deal with it.
