President Barack Obama on Monday proposed halving the US deficit by 2013 and cutting $1.1 trillion over the next decade in a budget he called a “downpayment” on fiscal control.

Practically every politician in DC is afraid of touching SS, Mediscare, and Medicaid even though those three programs are probably over half the budget.

Imagine you had a stack of $1,000 bills. $1 million would be a stack eight inches high. $1 billion would be over 667 feet high (think of the Washington Monument). And $1 trillion would be a stack 126 MILES high.
Obama’s $3.73T budget is a stack of $1000 bills 470 miles high.
Lots of miles of “tough choices and sacrifices” to choose from. How many “sacrifices and choices PER MILE, will OB get?”
$100B (in cuts) is only 1.26 miles of the budgetary stack distance.
It’s true, was it Ryan on Fox yesterday and his answer was that Obama failed to address it, they want Obama to show leadership, Ryan can’t address it for some reason they can’t make a budget yet.
The truth is they are all afraid to make the cuts.
In his first budget he called for an extra $1 trillion in spending for ‘stimulus’. Then it kind of just became part of the scenery. I guess the U.S. economy cannot function without commandeering the incomes of people not yet born. If this is not madness, I don’t know what is.
Anything coming from either party that doesn’t finally address those FDR/LBJ-bombs is simply kicking the can down the road and everyone knows it.

The deficit is 44% of the budget. So we are borrowing 44 cents for every dollar spent.
How can Obama present this budget proposal with a straight face? How can the MSM report on this without discussing the long term impact?

If it is tough, then let’s start with the easy stuff.
1) Identify and eliminate the HUNDREDS of duplicate programs.
2) Immediately proclaim a freeze in hiring of ALL federal employees. Allow the number of federal employees to go down through attrition.
3) Get real with prosecuting people who are defrauding the government in Medicare and Medicaid. Offer a reward of 10% of the defrauded amount to people who turn in cheaters.
4) Cut the pay and benefit packages of ALL federal employees to be no more than 10% above comparable private sector jobs.
5) Eliminate the Depts of Education, Commerce, Energy, and a bunch of others.
6) Change the way that the Pentagon acquires new weaponry. Giving companies tens of billions of dollars and 15 years just to DEVELOP the weapon DOES NOT CUT IT.
7) Cut the budget of ALL remaining federal agencies that do not have to do with law enforcement or security back to 2008 levels and cut THOSE back at least 10 percent.
