I know this is woefully ignorant, but over time they gave up the Golan and the West Bank too? I believe that Israel only controls a little over half of the Golan Heights and the West Bank is divided up into about 3 sections IIRC. Each of these sections of the West Bank have different civil control structures with Israel playing a larger or lesser role in governance depending upon the section.

Sometimes hard to believe the change in the foreign policy climate: diss the Brits, lukewarm to the French, love the Muzzies, abandon Israel, diss Mubarack, try and reinstall Zelaya, back buddy Chavez and Fidel. . . is there a pattern here? : )
