Ann Coulter: "The Left is Trying to Co-Opt Gays"

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter brought today's audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington to its feet in applause after urging the Republican party to include gays - perhaps getting the last word on the place gays have in the conservative movement after a tussle that pitted social conservatives against libertarians at this year's conference.

"The left is trying to co-opt gays," she said. "They should be on our side."

The fight over the Republican party's acceptance of gay conservatives and gay rights came to a head at CPAC, after organizers invited the gay conservative group GOProud to be an official participant. Some social conservative groups protested the convention as a result, but gay conservatives and their allies this week declared victory, observing that they were well-received at the event.

Democrats: We like gays more.
Republicans: No, we like gays more!
Democrats: No way! We do!
Republicans: Nuh uh. Pick us! Pick us!

You know, if I’m among the smallest minority in the world to find the cat fight between parties over who’s “gonna get the gays” to be absurd, ridiculous and juvenile, I’m just fine with that.

I am willing to be tolerant to what two people do in their home behind closed doors. When they form a group and start pushing their agenda on me and first graders - game over.

I agree 100%. It's not my place to dictate people's interactions behind closed doors, but the trend now is to push their agenda out into the public to garner not only acceptance but special rights and priviledges beyond the constitutional rights enumerated for ALL citizens. In short, they want their choice of partners to place them in a category above others in the population.

“Would you or Alan Keyes ever sit at the same dinner table with a homosexual?”

Yes, as long as the heeshee keeps both hands in view at all times and someone else brings the food to the table.

;^)

I’m surprised GOProud doesn’t argue for the Libertarian position of getting the government out of marriage altogether.

Their point is to splinter Conservatives.

Would you or Alan Keyes ever sit at the same dinner table with a homosexual?

How would you know if they were homosexual unless they tell everyone? Do you announce your sexual practices at dinner?

"...but gay conservatives and their allies this week declared victory, observing that they were well-received at the event."

The event means nothing and the election everything. To make a small group of provocateurs, GOProud, comfy CPAC made itself irrelevant at best. More likely CPAC has made itself destructive to the Conservative movement by slapping social Conservatives in the face.

Gays are not the new Blacks.

My question was directed explicitly to EV. Are you EV? No, you are not. Perhaps you are EV's spokesman here at FR?

And FYI, there is a definite point to why I asked that question and whom I asked it of.
EV, per usual, won't give a straightforward and honest answer.
An by the way, if one asks, "would you sit at a dinner table with someone who is gay" it is very much implied that all parties are aware of the fact that the person is gay.

Your question was posted on an open forum where anyone can reply. Get over it.

An by the way, if one asks, "would you sit at a dinner table with someone who is gay" it is very much implied that all parties are aware of the fact that the person is gay.

Again, who would know unless they're telling everyone. And do you announce your sexual practices?

Interesting that so many Republic and supposedly conservative elites are all jumping on the "gays are our friends" bandwagon. As far as Coulter, I don't know if CBS is misquoting her, what the context is, etc. But she is defintely playing coy with the "gay" agenda people.

The fight over the Republican party's acceptance of gay conservatives and gay rights came to a head at CPAC

It should read: "The fight over the Republican party's opposition to homosexual sex premised rights (identity politics) was ignored by the RINOs and the useful idiots that support the RINOs at FudgePAC"

Ann Coulter: "The Left is Trying to Co-Opt Gays"

She is quite correct. That is what identity politics is all about. Leftist community organizers do this -it is a method to consolidate power by building a coalition of special interests based upon promising the special interests whatever they want -principles be damned! In this case it is rights premised upon homosexual sex. The left has and is doing this now.

The RINOs want conservatives to join in the co-opt game like pigs fighting for the oh so important homosexual sex vote scraps in the mud! Let the leftists have them all! These perverts care about one thing only and would sell us out if push came to shove anyway. They do not seek truth and justice they extort for perversion's gain to the highest bidder.

The REAL question is, do conservatives think doing this is good if we do it too? Libertarians seem to think it is just dandy.

HOWEVER, I say NO co-opting of principles for temporary political gain! Let the left stand alone being held hostage by the perverts that extort them.

Truth will win -it always does.

Man, this is a “line in the sand” issue for me. I am first and foremost a moral/social/religious conservative - I won’t compromize on moral beliefs for political expediency just to “win” an election with someone calling themselves Republican. Someone that is a GOP version of POTUS Obama.

IF the GOP and other “conservative” organizations want my support, vote, and money. Then they have to chose. Either you embrace my moral standards, that “homosexuality is an abhorrent and not to be condoned lifestyle” as the norm and party platform, OR you will lose me. And the bottom line is that many, many, many social/morale/religious conservatives like myself make up a substantial base of the party. IF you lose us to embrace 1% of the population...then you are just plain fools. The GOP will become passe and it turly will be time to form a new political party based upon traditional morale values.

I do NOT advocate physically attacking or harming homosexuals. They should enjoy the same basic safeties in their persons as others. However, I don’t want the government to ever recognize them as a “minority” that deserves special protections, etc. They should never be digified with their so called unions receiving “marital” status or even “domestic partnership” status. Where these have occured, they need to be repealed and NO state should be required to accept what another state coopted by homosexuals has created - i.e. homosexual marriage. Also, the Federal Government should NEVER recognize homosexual coupling as equivelent to a hetereosexual union.

BIG TENTS ARE ONLY USEFUL FOR A CIRCUS - TURN THE GOP INTO A BIG TENT ORGANIZATION AND THAT IS WHAT YOU WILL GET - A CIRCUS!

That’s where I am at.

I don’t care about sexual preference.

But don’t create special laws and regs for those that prefer oral sex, homosexual sex , role plying sex , multiple partner sex or any sexual preference.

Where are those here that claimed Coulter wasn't selling out on the issue when she addressed GOProud now?

I would suggest that she also avoid soliciting the support of pedophiles, drug addicts, and alcoholics.

All those groups should be on our side, too, as long as they believe in tax cuts and limited government...

As long as the gays don't push us to adopt “gay marriage”

They ARE pushing that. They imposed open homosexuality on the military, no matter what the cost. They want homosexuality taught to kids in public schools. They are bullying and trying to silence anyone with a moral or intellectual objection to their sexual behavior.

Do you really think they aren't going to push for all that if they are allowed in the tent and that certain idiots in the GOP won't try to pander to them?

Yes, I'd make the homosexual sit at the far end of table in order to reduce the chances of catching whatever disease they had a the moment.

The Dems have always had their vote since they “came out of the closet”. Who needs to squabble over half of 2% of the vote.

Cause they control 90% of the media. Ask Anita Bryant what happens to a career when you cross them.
