I agree; Egypt may have a short-term democracy, but only for show and not for long.
Does anyone remember who Abolhassan Bani-Sadr was, and what became of him?
Anyone?
Anyone?
I remember him. He was hung a year or two later.
Was the first of a series of Prime Ministers in Iran after the Shah was booted.
He was either hunted down in France and assassinated or hung, as were the next few who came after him, until Iran totally gave up on secular government and was taken over by Khomeni.
The process between the fall of the Shah and the Mullahs was at least a year.
Look for instability in Egypt for some time.
No, whoops, he;s still alive in Paris, guarded by the French.

I was thinking of Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, who succeeded Bani Sadr.
Ghotbzadeh was hung, after attempting to overthrow Khomeni.
