Keep in mind China’s one-child policy. Under this program, each generation is 50% as large as the previous. They won’t have a billion people for long if they keep it up.

Once the western market for their 'Made in China' goods collapses for a myriad of reasons (the main one being the western wolrd's own economic collapse) these cities will become mausoleums for starving Chinese.
