HARTFORD Gov. Dannel P. Malloy this morning named Yale University professor and environmental expert Daniel C. Esty to lead his recently announced state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Esty, 51, serves as director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and Yale's Center for Business and the Environment.
In 2007 and 2008, Esty served as Presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign adviser on energy and the environment.
Malloy earlier this week revealed his plans to consolidate the state Department of Environmental Protection with the Department of Public Utility Control, for the new Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, known as DEEP. He will be paid $139,000 per year and will start his new position in the coming weeks.
"Dan is one of the world's leading experts on environmental strategy,'' Malloy told reporters during Esty's announcement at the state Capitol. "He holds a B.A. from Harvard, an M.A. from Oxford, and a law degree from Yale. He's clearly an under-achiever.''
Esty is married to former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty, who, like her husband, graduated from Harvard College and Yale Law School. She had defeated Republican state Rep. Al Adinolfi, but then lost to him two years later in the 103rd district in Cheshire.

The bold part tells you what you need to know about his politics.
No such thing as an “environmental expert.”
Suicide.
Merge both Departments and CLOSE them both......
Amen Brother. Neither is needed.
Close them both up.
We don’t need another Green idiot.
Then give them taxing authority FOR FULL EFFECT.
