Did he beat a Dem in 2010? I hope Republicans can hold that seat. They gained several House seats in the last election in NY so they should try to keep that momentum going.

It’s a safe R district, now.
But NY lost 2 seats (IIRC) in the census and the new district will surely be more D.

Actually, he won the seat in 2008 when Tom Reynolds retired. For a time in 2009-2010, he was actually one of only two Republicans in the NY House delegation, after Bill Owens took NY-23.

This is supposed to be one of NY’s more Republican districts, but Democrat Jack Davis held Reynolds to close margins in 04 and 06, although the latter had more to do with the Foley scandal. We should hold this provided the NY Republicans don’t screw this up as they did in NY-23.
