What I don’t get, is if you want to cheat on your spouse, why go through craigslist? There are plenty of women giving it away in any bar, on any night, in Anytown USA. You just need to come up with the proper turn of phrase.

I’d be skittish about buying a used car on Craigslist, and this guy is trolling for chicks there? He’s a Congressman. He’d have no trouble getting some play in DC. And he’s got to go on freaking CRAIGSLIST?

DC is crawling with young things in ardent pursuit of a Congressman, any Congressman. It’s a ‘power attracts’ thing.
I would say this has ruined his marriage, but it was probably not that healthy (at least from his perspective) if he was doing this. However, he has disgraced his wife in a very public way, and his child will have to live her life with the taint, as well. It will pass from the headlines, but not from their lives
