And the worst part is that this happens in patches all over the city, so that you can’t simply raze the affected areas and start farming there. City services are still spread over a large geographic areas which keeps costs much higher than needed. What a waste.

From what I read a while back about turning part of Detroit to gardens is that removal of all the cement, roadways, driveways and basements is cost prohibitive.. Then you also have curbs, fill for basements etc. Not feasible
