If the GOP elite had any brains, they would be thinking up some type of Willie Horton ad to hurt Obama on this issue.
What is ironic, of course, is that Obama and his pro-illegal policies have harmed more Americans than Michael Dukakis and his bleeding heart for criminals like Willie Horton.

“If ICE does not take custody within 48 hours, the detainer automatically lapses, and the state/local law enforcement agency is required to release the individual.” That makes no sense. If the detainer lapses wouldn't the suspect still be custody of the local juridiction rather than just "oh well loophole?" I would love to know where that policy originated.

Do you think places like Texas and California who both have Sanctuary cities, do not make a real effort to turn over a lot of these illegals, instead they release them thinking he has learned his lesson and they want to still offer him his better life as well as 2nd chance ?

I don’t see the big deal. We spend millions deporting them and they return the next day.
Until our borders are EFFECTIVELY secured, we’re wasting our money on expensive deportations.
