The point is that people have had money deducted from their pay for decades purportedly for social security. Regardless of how the Government squandered the money, continues to squander the money, and planned to squander the money at the inception of social security, does not absolve government of their promises. I knew as a teenager that the potential of Social Security actually paying me anything at all was slim, and it paying me back what it would collect from me was virtually zero, further I knew that there was absolutely no chance that Social Security would ever pay me back what that same money would have grown to in even a simple interest bearing account. I planned accordingly

While I agree the solution is not to create new victims, there has to be a plan to compensate those that have put money into the system. There is no excuse for the government giving short shrift to the very people that finance their incompetence.

Again, you just paid a tax. Moreover, you knew they were lying. So, what is the point? There is no way to compensate you or me without taking it from someone else. This is like demanding that Madoff keep his ponzi scheme going so I can get my money back.

I’d settle for flaying alive the politicians responsible for perpetuating this scam, but we won’t get even that satisfaction.
