Another photo of the vehicle, Turton Car Fire Caused by Low-Speed Crash, Police Say

A D.C. fire investigator takes photos of a burned-out BMW in a garage on the 800 block of A Street Southeast on Monday morning.

It’s quite possible that the victim was maneuvering the car and came in contact with some kind of flammable chemical materials,” D.C. Fire spokesman Pete Piringer said.

This photo makes sense (in terms of her backing out—ie., still conscious) from the garage. If you note the after fire photo, it appears that she would have had to swerve not only around the other (gold) car; but the wrought iron fencing. There is a curb to the left of the fence as well, so it appears that a hard left angle, in reverse, was needed to get onto the street. Also, did the Turton’s share the ‘right of way’ of the drive next door to them? Again, the fence on their property.
