The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers met in the Super Bowl two days ago, and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers won the MVP Award for his great play. The game also featured the induction of a number of former NFL greats into the Hall of Fame, as well as celebrities and statesmen from all over the country. As it happens, one of the people attending this ceremony was not a wayward child but the caretaker of one of Vick’s dogs rescued from his kennels. Richard Hunter tried to get Vick to look at a picture of the dog and comment on camera, but instead of responding, Vick’s bodyguard cursed and restrained Hunter, which provided its own moment of irony:
Don’t mess with kids or dogs and expect your reputation to recover.
This clown Caraway is one of the dumbest bigots around.
Never confuse Dallas with Ft. Worth. Please. Dallas is a liberal city run by racist minorities. Not so with Ft. Worth.
“Dallas” didn’t give anything to Michael Vick.
A black councilman named Dwayne Carraway sneaked around and, behind the mayor’s back, put on a pseudo presentation, which he’s not authorized to do. Giving a “key to the city” is a mayoral responsibility, and Leppert didn’t even know about it.

On the other hand, John Wiley did achieve national prominence when he claimed that “black hole” is a racist term, so perhaps I should pay due respect by using his full name.

Interesting. I attended a Superbowl party at a Baptist church, where they show a football-related inspirational video during half-time. One of the two NFL players they featured was Michael Vick, telling about how he has been strengthened and so on through his relationship with God and Christ. I don’t know the man’s heart - maybe he has truly repented of his sins (what’s the Biblical take on dog fighting?). Let’s just say I remain skeptical.
The city council members have non-official city keys that they give out routinely. This WILL change given the publicity that this is getting in Dallas. Carraway is a dufus and is definitely representative of his neighborhood. The Dallas council districts were gerrymandered to the level that would make a Cook County alterman drool with envy, and Carraway is a result of that.
I know.
Fort Worth has blacks on the SE side of town and in Como, Mexicans on the Northside, and minority representation of minority neighborhoods. Yet Cowtown holds it together.
But Dallas — county, city, and schools — are regularly a laughingstock because of the hijinks and criminal behavior of elected officials. How many are currently either locked up or on parole??
I watch from a few miles away. My tax dollars are not involved, but the entertainment value is priceless.

Dogs are valued family members. You people on FR that always defend this POS Vick’s unforgivable cruelty with “They’re just dogs” posts are beyond the pale and unworthy of any future respect or credibility here.
