No, for a very simple reason. The Bushes didn't put the word out that they expected a certain percentage of pure suck-up adulation stories from any news organization that expected even a particle of access to the policy makers and the POTUS. Over time, the word got around that people who wrote hostile, disrespectful articles about Bush, his wife or daughters, would suffer no retribution at all, nor would the organizations for which they worked.
The result of this dynamic is clear to us all.
