Hundreds of Egyptians demanding cheaper apartments rallied outside a government office on Monday, emboldened to press their case by mass demonstrations calling for the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.
Many stood for hours outside the downtown offices with their application forms. Some shouted that they would join the protest camp in nearby Tahrir Square if officials did not give way: "If you don't let us in, we will head to Tahrir."
Sohir and Amr, a married couple in their late 30s who were looking for an apartment they could afford, said they would not leave the governorate office area until they got what they saw as their right.
"How come they tell us to come on a certain day and then tell us to go away, saying there is nothing here for you? Aren't they aware of what is going on in Tahrir and that people will no longer surrender and will continue to pursue their demands?" said Amr, who declined to give his family name.

Only if they can get their hands on Mubarak’s fortune. 37% of Egypt’s GDP could buy a lot of homes.
Too bad Lenin did not live to see his dream of a worldwide communist revolution.
This comment is a little off topic, but I think that America needs to absolutely STOP the immigration of any more Muslims into the US and begin hearings on the inherently seditious nature of Islam and the dangers it poses to Western culture.
The rent is too damn high in Cairo!
So their right is free housing, welcome to american, illegals , druggies and the two sorry to work crowd, feel the same way.
(Yea, the Muslim Brotherhood will give it! /sarc)
You may have been joking or sarcastic, but it’s no joke, that’s exactly how groups like MB work - same as Hezbollah & Hamas - they ingratiate themselves and win loyalty of people thru money, food, housing, jobs and promises. The MB will get whatever financial help they need from Iran.
So they want “economic justice” now?
Hmmm
Exactly why the radical left is merging with the islamokazis.

“Aren’t they aware of what is going on in Tahrir and that people will no longer surrender and will continue to pursue their demands?”
Actually this guy has one solution: If enough Egyptians die in pursuit of “demands” it will indeed lower the price of apartments.
Subsidizing the underclass never ends well, as we will also find out when we discover that we can’t pay some folks for doing little, and others for doing nothing.
The lamestream media will label this as the “Obama Effect”? /s =.=
Islamic socialism from Wiki.
Islamic socialism is a term coined by various Muslim leaders to meet the demand for a more spiritual form of socialism. Muslim socialists believe that the teachings of the Qur’an and Muhammad are compatible with principles of equality and the redistribution of wealth. But some orthodox Islamic scholars declare various socialist practices, such as the confiscation of private property, to be oppressive and against Islamic teachings
The MB will get whatever financial help they need from Iran.
And Obama.
...WTF....who is that weird guy.....?
Is there any country in the world that is not being struck down with the socialist sickness?
You know the ones i mean, like if you can not afford a nice home, get one that is not so nice and work on it, or live in a tent, if you can,t afford steak, eat beans.
Of course in a socialist country you can not make your own choice and i do not know what power the government in that country holds.
But if it is a free country like America once was then they should be taking their fight to the land lords, not the government.
And if it is a socialist country or a country run by a dictator they should be demanding their freedom so that they can help them selves.
Yeah if president Obama don,t give me affordable heath care i will go to the side of the terrorists, what kind of sense does that make?
...and why wearing black wooly gloves.............?
Because the rent is too damn high...!
