Medical or emergency services and people on those lines did not have their electricity turned off.
We had a blackout for about 20 minutes but when they turned it back on, the surge blew the transformer. My biggest complaint was the electric company sent all calls to their answering machine so any emergency call was ignored. We didn't have electricity for over 6 hours until we finally got someone and gave them some bs story to get them out before nightfall.

Wah! Living in the country, we were out for three days back in the 2009 ice storm, and some were out even longer.
We were prepared and lived nice in the glow of kerosene lamps and a battery powered radio. Caught up on lots of reading.
Actually, many people whith medical notices to the electric companies had their electricity cut.
This was nothing put pure greed and lack of planning. They didn’t want to bring up those power plants because of the cost involved.
They gambled it wouldn’t be that bad and it was. Heads should roll, but they won’t.
Screw Ercot.
I had 4 blackouts lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour in a 3 hour time. My brother had a 2 day blackout. The transformers around here are antiquated; yet no one will spend the money to do anything.
I did and I have an oxygen machine and the power was cut in Dallas to some of the hospitals.
