If it’s a place you like and want to live for a long time, you might consider a closed loop in ground heat pump system.
Expensive, but might pay off over decades.
I’m old and retired. I bought this place (my first) to die here. Anything I do to or for the place is either for my immediate comfort or to last for 15 more years, max. I augment my propane heat with a wood/coal burning FHA furnace ducted into the propane fed system.
