Romney, Huckabee Even With Obama, Other GOP Hopefuls Trail
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 02/06/2011 | Scott Rasmussen

An early look at potential 2012 match-ups indicates that the election is likely shaping up as a referendum on President Obama. That’s typical when an incumbent runs for reelection.

The numbers show that Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee essentially run even with Obama at this point. Romney is nominally up two points, 44% to 42%, while Huckabee is tied with the president at 43% apiece.

Three other well-known potential candidates, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul trail the president. Palin is down by 11 points, 49% to 38%, Gingrich by eight, 47% to 39%, and Paul by nine, 44% to 35%.

none of this means anything except that Obama is under 50%, which is always bad for an incumbent.

Remember that Carter was AHEAD of Reagan in all the polls leading up to the 1980 election.

I certainly would find it very hard to pull the lever for either one of these guys!

Just the usual liberal and RINO propaganda. Sarah Palin leads them all in the real world.

"Myth" Romney will never get my vote.

I voted for McStain simply because of Palin.

Never again will I vote for someone other than a conservative for POTUS no matter who is the running mate.

Possibly none of those mentioned will be the nominee going up against Obama. I’m hoping the nominee is someone not even on the radar as of yet even though I can’t imagine who it would be.

“Once again the Gelded Old Party will choose a loser.”

MSM is trying to convince the GOP that they can win with Mitt, or some other left-of-center republican. Surprisingly, MSM has tons of influence with GOP, this strategy works pretty often.

Expect more articles about how Mitt can tromp Obama, ramping up until GOP commits. One month lag, then MSM will be all over him.

These kind of polls are bogus. The respondents all have a bias (e.g. Romney supporters won’t support Palin and vice versa).

If they asked straight up, Palin v Obama (no other choice), I guarantee Palin would be within margin. And I hate to say it, the other way around too... if it were Romney v Obama (as the only choice) he’d be up, probably more than 2 points.

Bottomline, Obama is supported by all Dems, and Repubs are fractured (until nominee is selected). IMO, Obama is in deep trouble.

They don’t want Obama. Sarah only getting 38 percent. She will DEFINITELY have two million votes just from Facebook, books, tv show and other entertainment areanas. She is working hard to become President. We will see how it pans out.

Newt is the same as Romney. They’re both lying politicans. Tell you what you want to hear, then change position once in power

Are you two years old? That sounded exactly like a brat who doesn’t get their way. Quite frankly I hope Sarah does run and FINALLY see what she has to offer. She is going to have to compete in the debates which she is already not going to participate in the 2 May debate. I hope she is not making the same mistake that Rudy G did as he waited until Florida to begin.....not a good plan.

Romney? Huckabee?

Their push-polling has now become the laughing stock of statistical analysis.

40% strongly disapprove of Obammie the Commie. He is comfortably in Jimmy “Father of the American Hostage” Carter’s popularity camp.
