Next Thursday marks the start of the Conservative Political Action Conference, commonly known as CPAC, where conservative activists gather every year in Northwest Washington, D.C.
It's a chance for bigwigs to make speeches to a ballroom full of influential types, which makes it a particularly choice venue for Republican presidential aspirants, which speak there regularly. It's a packed three-day schedule from Thursday through Saturday, so there's room enough for most of them.
Tea party hero Michele Bachmann, whose office indicated in January that she's considering a 2012 run, will be the first of the 2012ers to speak. Bachmann, many will recall, just delivered a televised response to President Obama's State of the Union address, orchestrated by the group Tea Party Express.

Bachman is concerned with furthering her interests, Sarah is concerned about principles.
Could be worse, she could be an official sponsor like SarahPAC.
ROFLMAO.
I don’t like CPAC, I don’t like Keene, I don’t like GOProud.
I like Palin. I would vote for her in a primary.
I like Bachmann, and would love for her to be president.
I respect Palin not going to CPAC ... she doesn’t have to give a reason.
I understand Bachmann going to CPAC. While I don’t like the group getting credibility, what serious presidential candidate hasn’t given credibility and money to a major TV network or at least its affiliates? Who refuses all interviews with the enemy on principle and only principle?
I am not going to take Sen. DeMint off of my Christmas Card list because he supported Romney in 2008. If Specter-supporting Rick Santorum was up against Obama, I would happily vote for Santorum.
Frankly, I’m sick of people being called RINO because of an endorsement or attendance at most events. (I make an exception for Romney attending a Planned Parenthood fundraiser because NO good people have ANYthing to do with that operation, and he was going to persuade them that he was on their side ... different story. If Bachmann spoke at a GOProud rally, as opposed to a meeting sponsored in part by it, that would be over the line, unless she read them the riot act.)
It is excruciatingly hard to navigate a two party system nomination process and remain intact. I am willing to cut more slack on associations than on positions and record. There is a lot of space between impeccable and RINO.
People of moderate intelligence are easily amused. I’m happy for you.
Dig deep and explain to me why Michelle Bachmann feels it neccessary to speak at CPAC and Sarah Palin does not.
From the list of attendees:
# Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) - 9:15 a.m. Thursday
# Fmr. Sen. Rick Santorum (Pa.) - 2:00 p.m. Thursday
# Herman Cain - 4:30 p.m. Friday
# Gov. Haley Barbour (Miss.) - 9:30 a.m. Saturday
They all have their flaws, but I don’t consider any of them RINOs.
CPAC has more credibility than I like, but if we exclude anyone who has endorsed a lib/RINO, sat with a Dem at the SOTU or has spoken at CPAC, there’s no one left in the Republican Party.
CQPAC
February is our busiest winter month and with all the prior obligations and outside travel already scheduled for the month I had to forgo some of the opportunities in the Lower 48, said Palin in an email to the Fix Thursday explaining her decision.
Palins statement, plus the fact that her political action committee issponsoring a reception at the event seems aimed at making clear that theres no beef between her and the organizers. (Some conservatives, including Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) are skipping out over the inclusion of gay groups.)

That sure doesn’t look like an explanation to me...
Here’s Precious’ explanation.

Now, if Palin had elected to speak to CPAC, you’d be ripping into her for that, you rank hypocrite.
Well stated.
Do you own Hot Air? That’s their story, what is yours?
I’ll translate your cultanese into english for the viewing public:
If Palin had elected to speak at CPAC, the cultists would be praising her for her bravery, because we’re rank hypocrites.
BTW, SarahPAC is a CPAC cosponsor. ANd her reason for not attending is busy schedule. Just so you know.
>> If she speaks up on moral issues she might get booed
Then it would be worth it.
They quoted Palin’s own email. Unless you have another quote telling us she is not attending because of the homos, I guess it stands. BTW, SarahPAC is an official co-sponsor.
That might dispel the notion that CPAC is in any form a “big tent” too. Its just as small a tent, its just only a little on our yard.
“Now, if Palin had elected to speak to CPAC, you’d be ripping into her for that, you rank hypocrite.”
Bada bing AND bada boom!
I hope Michele Bachmann runs. I think she would have a better shot at it than Palin.
