The Obama administration doesnt hide its contempt for Congress, independent agencies, watchdog groups, the media and whistle-blowers. Now a federal judge has found the administration in contempt of court. Its about time.
The case, Hornbeck Offshore Services v. Salazar, centers on a company challenging the moratorium on deep-water drilling imposed after the BP oil spill. On June 22, U.S. District Judge Martin L.C.Feldman ordered Interior Secretary Kenneth L. Salazar not to enforce the moratorium because it appeared arbitrary and capricious and, therefore, unlawful. The 5thU.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the order. Mr. Salazar got around the injunction by rewording a few technical terms and issuing a second moratorium four days later. Even after that second moratorium was lifted on Oct. 12, no deep-water and only a few shallow-water permits have been issued.
Suffering from loss of business, Hornbeck asked Judge Feldman to force the government to pay its attorneys fees, and on Wednesday he agreed on the basis that the administration was in civil contempt...

What's remarkable in your list is that these have all come to light within the past week or so. After 4 years, zero's list of corruption is going to be a stack of papers as large as the 0bamacare fiasco.
- - - - - NEWS FROM BARBARA BOXER, UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM CALIFORNIA - - - - -
January 28, 2011
Dear Friend:
This week I introduced the West Coast Ocean Protection Act, a bill to permanently prohibit new offshore drilling along the Pacific coast. I was joined by all the Senators from the West Coast including my colleague from California, Senator Dianne Feinstein, and Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) in offering this critical legislation to protect the 570,000 jobs and $34 billion coastal economy of our three states.
Additional offshore oil development along the Pacific shoreline would needlessly endanger irreplaceable natural resources and our vital coastal economies.
President Obama has not included the West Coast in any new offshore oil and gas development plans through at least 2017, but we need permanent protection. The West Coast Ocean Protection Act includes clear language stating that the Secretary of the Interior shall not issue a lease for the exploration, development, or production of oil or natural gas in any area of the outer Continental Shelf off the coast of the State of California, Oregon or Washington.
Be assured that I will work to enact this important bill to safeguard our entire coastline from harmful offshore drilling.
Sincerely,
Thanks, good article.
Thanks. Babs in living in lala land if she thinks this will pass the house.
Enlightened, superior, brilliant, really-really smart progressives can never run afoul of the law. They ARE the law of nature and the universe.
