Wanted: US conservatives prepared to 'come out' as opponents of Sarah Palin
The London Telegraph ^ | February 2, 2011 | Damian Thompson, Blog Editor & Religion reporter

Posted on 02/02/2011 7:11:12 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

As my colleague Janet Daley notes, ConservativeHome USA has declared war on Sarah Palin, rounding up US conservatives who think she’d be a disaster as the next Republican presidential candidate. What I find strange, however, is the way it’s gone about it. In a piece signed by “The Editors”, ConHomeUSA has awarded anti-Palin Republicans the melodramatic title of “Truth Tellers”. And, rather bizarrely, it is recruiting for more:

If you are a Truth Teller, or want to recommend a commentator who is, email us here.

Don’t get me wrong. I think Sarah Palin is basically nuts, as I suggested when she started tossing around the phrase “blood libel” after she was unfairly attacked over the Tucson shootings. If she wins the Republican nomination, and even if she doesn’t but stops her fan base voting for the GOP, then she’ll have landed us with eight years of Obama – a sin crying out to heaven for the vengeance, as the old Catechism puts it.

Still, there’s something about the rounding up of anti-Palin commentators by “The Editors” that reminds me of ritual group denunciation in the Eastern Bloc. Also, I’m really not convinced by this observation:

Because of her popularity, many have been afraid to say openly about her what they whisper in private. But a few brave souls have stepped out and said about Sarah Palin what others think but are unwilling to say.

Actually, I don’t think you have to be brave to attack Sarah Palin, just willing to put up with the snarls of her supporters. And you won’t get many of those if you’re writing in the New York Times, where the brilliant Ross Douthat – one of the few columnists allowed to challenge the paper’s suffocating liberal pomposity – had this to say(continued)

Well, it's nice to see Londonistan has contracted the Palin Derangement Syndrome plague.

I'm sure it is just a coincidence that a nation which has been being taken over by Muslims and Socialists is attacking POTUS #45.

By their PDS you shall know them...

Today is a good day to die.
I didn't say for whom.

Or...

Why build a conspiracy or a front against someone who's “washed up” and who would be a disaster as the GOP nominee?

If she would be a disaster why are they going through the effort to corral Republicans willing to criticize her?

Thanks for this post. I was on this panel until reading this article then reading their piece of crap hatchet job on Palin. I thought that something was off about this bunch, but this made it easy. So I wrote them and told them to take a flying leap. I suggest any Freeper who was participating consider who they are in bed with.

Here's their list of "conservative" Truth Tellers, so far:

What a small group of misnomered misnomers.

The Republican Party should be surprised at their resurgence because the Republican Party had very little to do with it. They were too busy curled up in the fetal position, sucking their thumbs while Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and the Tea Party folks went to work reclaiming our country. When it came to taking on Obama, the arrogant Republican establishment were nowhere to be found.

Ain't that the truth.

The TEA Party voters in this recent 2010 midterm election, led by Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, just won the greatest Republican coast-to-coast wins in eighty years, and the greatest conservative wins in the history of the USA.

And some anonymous RINO hacks think Palin and/or Bachmann don't have the support of enough independents and/or Republican voters?

It is the RINOs who have lost the support of the voters -- and they are still crapping their panties, three months later.

I'm confident that, along with Palin and Bachmann, there are enough of us to again make history in 2012.

Consider reclassifying this as News. It is an excerpt from the UK Telegraph. It pointed to something I hadn't seen though I am a participant in the Conservative Home USA survey panel which shocked my socks off.

This is the article this posting is referencing, and perhaps it should be put up as the news item, but I don't want to get into a game of multiply posting this same thread, but this is important as these folks were positioning themselves as a conservative version of PPP. But obviously, instead they are at best a RINO mouthpiece.

They posted this Barfworthy stack of crap on their site yesterday as an Editorial:
It's Time To Move Beyond Palin

I just did a survey for these folks yesterday and the results of their first survey were clearly presented to show Sarah Palin in a bad light in spite of actually being one of the most popular Conservative voices amongst the panelists. They showed her as being one of the biggest losers in support by slipping from 75 to 73 percent of the panelists liking her in the midst of this most recent wave of attacks. Duh. That resulted in her falling behind the Tea Party, Marco Rubio, Chris Cristie, Rush Limbaugh and John Boehner but still ahead of George Bush and Bobby Jindal and every other politician that they polled about. If you look at their circle of critics, it looks like a who's who of Washington Beltway RINO's, gees.

Who cares, but this piece they wrote asking for "Truth Tellers" to dump on Sarah Palin starting with quotes from every RINO on the planet shows these folks are attempting to dupe Conservatives into supporting their bait and switch game.

I bet a large number of Freepers are on this panel and they should be informed that this bunch is just sham Conservative site intended to be a platform to support someone's political agenda rather than an instrument to find where the Conservative base actually lives.

I can guess there were many so-called truth tellers back in 1976 and 1980 when Reagan was running.

Great Post! BTT These folks, I am ashamed to say completely took me for a sucker, but after their second survey, they showed their real colors and they were RINOs in conservative clothing.

But, this tells it all. Awesome post. C4P has a thread on this now, and it would be a delight if you posted this info in that thread as well.
