NASA is trying far too hard to get publicity. No mention of the kind of stars these "earth-like" planets are circling. If they're either red giants or red dwarfs, life is very unlikely. The energy of the photons from the star is too low to power any chemical reactions such as photosynthesis.

"Why not search for planets in THIS galaxy..?"They are. I'm fairly certain that all of the planets they are analyzing are in our Milky Way galaxy. I don't believe we have anything powerful enough to literally 'see' inside of another galaxy at a level that would reveal planets.

I don't know why NASA is bothering with this. I thought their mission had been redefined as outreach to the Muslim world.
All these planets out there being discovered is a good reason to prevent online voting from ever being adopted...if intelligent life is ever found on one of those planets, the Democrats will figure out a way to get them to vote online for Democrat candidates.
