Looking at the second picture can anyone tell me if that is a sonar dome in the bow?

Nope, the bulbous bow design is intended both to improve hydrodynamics around the hull and provide more buoyancy to the forward part of the ship. The Reagan and Bush have them as well, and there was some thought to putting them into some of the earlier Nimitz-class CVs during their RCOHs. I don't think Roosevelt, which is currently in RCOH, will get one, don't know about Lincoln. There are apparently issues with the middle-members of the class (Stennis and Truman particularly) - which weigh more than the earlier ones - going green over the bow too easily during higher sea states and having flight operations impacts from too much pitching.

Thanks for the info. I can say from experience being in #1 pumproom in the bow in heavy seas is no fun whatsoever. One time I got pitched off the ladder coming up out of #2 pumproom trunk due to a sudden list. Netting in trunks is a good thing LOL.
