Nearly half of the Republican Primary voters who support Sarah Palin say they are at least somewhat likely to vote for a third-party candidate if she does not win the GOP presidential nomination.

Ah yes, the old "GOP establishment". Personally, I have no idea what that is, who they are, and where they can be found.
Whomever that may (or may not)be, what they aren't is the "Party". The Party must remain completely neutral, and they shouldn't wade into these controversy de jour, unless of course we're talking about a sitting Republican politician, in which case the Party does have an obligation to come to the defense of that person, if the person's actions are actually defensible.
Only in extreme cases - like when David Duke ran as a Republican back in the early 1990s, and the National RNC and the LA state RNC quickly and forcefully endorsed his rival - should the Party interject itself.
Every time some politician with populists positions, both on the right and the left, fails to win their party's nomination, they blame the old standby - the establishment. Frankly, I find it intellectually lazy and ridiculously tiring.
John McCain was ANYTHING but the establishment candidate, being "mavericky" and all, but he had no problems securing the nomination, and in fact, did so quite handily. If Palin deserves to win, she'll win. If she doesn't, she won't. It's that simple, and she'll have no one to blame but herself if she doesn't.
Well, that's a lie and a half.
I held my nose and voted for McLame. If they throw up another GOP “moderate” i am done supporting the GOP on the national front. As for Palin, I would support, but there are other good contenders that I will suport.
Since the women of the Republican party seem to be the only ones with any cojones, the sooner we get a conservative female in the Oval Office, the better.
It's been so long since I've read those studies, I don't know if I could accurately articulate what the basic arguments were. In a nutshell, however, most of them made an argument that Clinton would have done better than 43% without Perot, but he wouldn't have done enough to win. More simply, not everyone who was a Perot voter, was necessarily a vote against Clinton.
The state that also gave you Michele Bachmann and a Republican statehouse. I tire of correcting people who don't know how to research, but there you go.
We're purple here. That's generally accepted by people who know what they're talking about.
The mainstream media wants a 3rd party to split the conservative vote which will guarantee an Obama 2nd term, a super majority of democrats/Marxists in Congress, and a socialist state.
Sarah has just begun her fight, and she has the most name recognition, and has already been vetted times 10. She is very compelling on the Campaign, and like the energizer Bunny. Her negatives will go down as the people see how qualified she is,and very intelligent with very long term, smart plans into the future. I was a Romney supporter the last time, but no more. He has no personality and the Health care thing, and 4 Sons but none in the Military hurts him with Conservatives.
Well said!
Will Palin run?Has Palin announced she is running for President?
I would support Palin if she runs.

You actually believe that?!? LOL!!
New York Times declared, Thomas E. Deweys Election as President is a Foregone Conclusion. Top pollsters predicted a Dewey win, as did leading national political writers. In fact, with the exception of Truman, everyone else was certain Dewey would be elected. Months before the election, Life ran a cover of a picture of Dewey with a caption that read, The Next President of the United States. Headline after headline screamed Dewey as President.
Hey Titus!.............remember this poll back in 48?! It was done by “top pollsters”.............!
I would be surprised if you could cite and quote a freeper saying “all polls are wrong’ sir. I think it more likely that somewhere sometime some freeper said “some are wrong” or “most are wrong” or “whatever”. But, Dewey vs Truman proves any freeper exactly correct who may have said “sometimes...polls are dead wrong”.
This is engraved in stone, they can take it to the bank!
It doesn't absolutely need to be Sarah but if the nominee isn't reasonably conservative no way will I vote for them.
DAMN RIGHT! I wasn't going to vote for him last time, I was decided to cast my Presidential vote for Hillary!.
Then along came Sarah. Ended up voting for her and what's his face.
That is how the Kenyan clown got elected ,the core sat out and what little of it did vote, voted third party,Do these people want a Repeat?
You're right. That's EXACTLY why Mitt Romney won the nomination in 2008 - oh, wait.
We haven't had a brokered convention in a generation, or longer. If you can convince enough Republicans, and in some states independents too, that you're the man for the job, you'll win. If you can't, you won't. Old men huddled in back rooms smoking cigars has nothing to do with it, although those guys make for great fall men when incompetent candidates fall flat on their faces.
They all seem to act like they have bravado now that Sarah has done their jobs for them, it was not long ago they were mute and wetting their panties. She was saying what they should have been saying. They know she will not hire any of their worthless, backbiting butts in a Palin White House, so they suck up to other suck ups.
My position is quite simple. I will never, under any circumstances, vote for a Democrat. Moreover, I will never indirectly support a Democrat by either failing to vote or by wasting my vote by voting for some candidate who cannot win.
In any contest, I will vote for the most conservative candidate who has a chance of winning. So, will you be sporting an Obama sticker on your car if your favorite conservative candidate is not nominated?
You would.
