Where Did China Get Its Stealth Technology?

China is reveling in the attention its new stealth aircraft is getting, even though it's not clear whether the J-20 is as technologically advanced as the country's leaders would like the world to believe.

Chinese officials are adamant that the aircraft was developed by engineers at home using their own designs, but analysts and aerospace experts presume the J-20 owes at least some credit to others. Here are the leading theories on where China may have copied -- or perhaps even stolen -- designs for its new aircraft.

China got the technology from the F-117 that was shot down over Bosnia in the 1990’s.

The vertical stabilizers on the J-20 are dead ringers. Notice that they are much smaller in proportion to the VS’s on the F-22.

In short, the F-22 would eat it for lunch in a dog fight.

You are probably right, but thanks to Gates, CommieCrates and RINOs, the F22 is going into the dustbin of history in order to lift the F35 into prominence. IMHO Stupidity - maybe, Treason - most likely!

I agree. The F-22 should’ve been built in greater numbers. $130 million each is a small price to pay for air superiority.

I would call Obama a traitor, but we all know he was born in Kenya. lol.

It looks nice on the outside. That hardly makes it stealthy.

Stealth technology is not a single technology. It is a combination of other technologies.

From where? Wrong question.

Try from whom.

And the answer is easy: Clinton.

The plans were laying on a coffee table... just swapped them for 200 FBI files. Cheap

The nuclear warhead plans required payment in person. Luckily, there were some monks with nothing better to do...

I think China got the stealth technology NOT from the F-117, which uses an obsolete method for reducing radar cross section (RCS).

A far more likely candidate is the shelved MiG I.44 project:

Note how this plane has a fairly strong configuration resemblance to the Chengdu J20:

Makes no difference advances in phase radar takes away the stealth.

Depends on what you believe that is released for ‘public consumption’.

More of the joys of Free Trade with Communist China....

Communist Chinese probably got the tech from some company that shipped jobs out of America to Communist China.

“Oh, and with the new jet engine plant we are building in Szechuan....we also would like to show you our stealth fighter plans...”

You end Free Trade Communism...and this stuff does not happen

That reminds me. During the Clinton Admin, classified computers were being ‘los’t or ‘misplaced’ seemingly every day, sometimes even many in one shot dissapeared... no word if any were ever recovered.

There's lots of speculation out there - F-22, F-35, F-117, MiG 1.44.

However, those with good knowledge of the US aerospace industry and the development of stealth aircraft should quickly notice the uncanny similarity between the J-20 and the Lockheed CALF demonstrator (forerunner to the JSF/F-35):

The J-20 appears to be a scaled-up CALF demonstrator, with two engines and no liftfan:

I suspect F-22 is basically a stealthier MiG-25 and F-15 is just a rip-off of MiG-25.

The MiG-25 is a really fat, twin-tailed A-5A Vigilante.
