Maybe we need to stop being hypocrites. We climb in bed with every dictator that comes along and then complain when we get a rash. If we are for democracy, that is what we need to support. Let oil do what it wants, it has anyway in the last few years regardless of what supply/demand is.
If we dont do it, the Russians or the Chinese will.
Uh, ok. I might agree if WE ourselves let our oil companies "do what they want", meaning drill anywhere in America without restriction. But they are barred. So we must project power. And Arab "democracy"? Does not exist. Iraq is still on probation, so sorry that does not count.
There is no doubt that our policy in the middle east has long been at odds with our own values. In that dangerous neighborhood we have long opted for stability over liberty.
