White House hardens line on Egypt (they had a line?)
WaPo ^ | 1/28/11 | Greg Sargent

The White House has been struggling to strike a balance between showing support for a key ally, Hosni Mubarak, while also showing support for freedom and democracy, but now the White House seems to be coming down harder in support of the protestors.

At the press briefing just now, Robert Gibbs conspicuously declined to answer directly when asked if the President stands by Mubarak, saying only: "We're monitoring a very fluid situation."

Gibbs also repeatedly called on security personnel in Egypt to "refrain from violence," and insisted that the "legitimate grievences that have fested for quite some time in Egypt have to be addressed by the Egyptian government immediately." He repeated several times that the grievances are "legitimate."

Mubarak tossed under the bus.

Of course Obama will side with the Muslim Brotherhood against Mubarak.

Of course, we wouldn’t want to support a useful ally after the Communists and Islamists have started rioting.

Maybe if we work on it, we can help spread this all over the Middle East. After all, as Obama has often said, Islam is very CIVILIZING.

Wow, the minute the Muslim Brotherhood showed up, Obama figured out what side he was on. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

It seems this may be inevitable, and Bush and Obama failed to reach out sufficiently in the past to opposition leaders. I just heard a ME expert stating that GWB wanted to, but Condoleeza Rice walked him back from that policy in 2006.

Hopefully this won’t be another Iran. Then again, it could be worse.

According to Joe Biden earlier today, Mubarak should not step down.

Imbecile.

Obama is surrounded by doctrinaire academics who are not only clueless about foreign policy, but don’t have enough of a grasp to realize how clueless they are. When they have completely screwed the world up, our young men will have to clean up the mess, just as they did in 1941.

Only thing set in granite for this admin. and fellow travelers, is their quest for power. As Alinsky's student, Obam is following his leader. Alinsky told his students it is all about power and personal achievement. The issues are NEVER the issue. They are means to gaining power.

Incidently, read a little booklet by David Horowitz about Alinsky and his goals and teaching methods which is very enlightening. Seems Alinsky never joined the Communist Party, but was favorable to their goals which were the same as his--tearing down capitalism and taking away property rights and personal freedoms. He used them, but never joined them. Go to Horowitz' web site and google Alinsky. David H. knows leftists, as he was raised by 2 card carrying Communist parents and was a primo leftie himself until the Black Panthers killed a friend of his, and he began to see the light on Communism.

Alinsky told his students to forget their idealism (helping people, making a difference, etc) He told them to tell anything, lie, whateer it took to gain their endgoal--power. He kept drilling into them it is about POWER.

the media has been tossing around the term “Reagan-esque” all week after the SOTU; wonder if they’ll now toss around the term “Carter-esque” based on this idiot’s handling of the events in Egypt!?

This mooselimb loving administration doesn't know whether to take a crap or wind their watch.

Since he has no core American values, he is torn between two mooselimb choices, neither of which is good.

The best we can "hope for is change", that does not include the mooselimb brotherhood taking over 80 million Egyptians whose only goal in life is to have every Jew in Israel build them one more Pyramid.

Benny may have to use his nukes to save his country, and if he does, their goes Iran {and most of the rest of the neighborhood}.

We'll all be eating squirrel, rabbit and dove {and neighbor's dog}.
