“I was horrified,” said Gonzalez. “I couldn’t even speak. I broke down crying because there was a loaded gun in my hands, and I don’t know where it came from.”

Did it chase you around the car and try to rape you too?

And the evil of the crime is now attached to the spirit of the gun? Go to a gun exorcist, that fixes that.

If the gun could provide the evidence that convicts a murderer it is appropriate that it be used for that.

In high school and the first year of college I worked during the summer at car and truck rental outfit. The first thing I’d check was the glove compartment on a return. Never knew what you’d find in it! Very exciting.

Getting into a car and popping the glove compartment open immediately became such a habit that it once caused me some embarrassment. One day I had a date with girl in college who had a car. She picked me up at the student center. I got in the car alongside and immediately popped open the glove box. Oops. End of date.

Wow. What a f`ing pansy-ass coward. “I broke down crying” Jeez.

Tell you what, lady, I’ll take that gun — with its ammo — off your hands for a mere $20.
{Hey, getting paid to obtain firearms is a pretty good deal.}

LOL! Thank you. I had heard about this years ago but never could quite find it. There it is!

...and the gun is still there!

I would vote “both”. She must have thought that the gun was going to leap up and shoot everyone. Sheeesh! Some people are too stupid to be allowed out in public.

Now you know better.

Can’t just tell that story and NOT report on what you found

What was it?

No, it could be evidence.

To be fair, if you watch the video, the rental was an evil SUV, so you never know. The gun and the SUV could have joined forces, and then you never know what could have happened.

True, I understand. But...

Look here’s the story: money in an envelope or significant amounts of loose change or bills and obviously valuable personal items you make an effort to return. We are talking cars and trucks that had been dropped off while we were closed. If the client is there when the car gets checked — you dump everything in a bag and return it.

But what of questionable stuff? Booze and joints to name two. It’s treated like it is not there. Never saw it. Lost. Got it? Don’t want to lose customers.

Oops. End of date.

end of date because of what you found in the glove compartment? or end of date because she didn't appreciate your opening the compartment?

"I was horrified," said Gonzalez.

Horrified of what??? The gun is an inanimate object. It cannot do anything by itself.

I'd have just turned the danged thing in and would have been done with it. Although it would have been tempting to just take it, it really belonged to somebody (somebody that was careless, for certain).

She planted it; just like someone claiming to have found a rat head in their Big Mac. The weeping and wailing is way over the top. The only thing missing was Gloria Allred by her side. (I guess we know now that she isn’t licensed in Texas.)

My job involves remarketing cars through auto auctions. Lots of repossessed cars there. I’ve been at the auction lots many times and have seen lots of “stuff” in those cars.

Every couple of months or so the police K-9 units come in a do a sweep of all the inventory. Quite an awesome thing to see. Those dogs and their handlers are the BEST!

My advice: If ever you buy a used car - - Be sure it was inspected (or do it yourself) for contraband.

The second. She didn’t give me enough time to ransack the compartment before she booted me. I hadn’t seen the “evil eye” face much before in my life, but her’s was *forceful* and aimed right at me.

I broke down crying because there was a loaded gun in my hands

Wow, what a wimpy liberal. I'd have kept my mouth shut and taken it home.

"Mine! My kids! Lives could have been taken!"

That's funny, my guns have been in my house and truck for years. Not one has yet taken a life, or even fired by itself.

“I would never keep anyone else’s property to begin with.”

Thank you for injecting some responsibility and ethics into this thread.

Found property may be “free”, but it is the responsibility of ethical people to attempt to find the rightful owner.
