Art Carney was a great comedian but also a WWII veteran. Arthur William Matthew Carney, (November 4, 1918 - November 9, 2003) was drafted into the US Army in 1944 and participated in D-Day landings at Normandy. Carney received scrapnel wounds to his right leg, resulting in it being three quarters of an inch shorter than his left leg. He walked with a limp for the rest of his life.
