Where is the obligatory “unreliable debkafile” statement? This is really distressing; without that statement, people might actually believe the events related herein are actually occurring!

This is not good for FR's reputation!

country that’s capable of building a nuclear weapon is certainly capable of putting togther a reasonably functional destroyer...

Send notice when they actually build a working nuclear weapon, then we’ll see about that “reasonably functional destroyer”.

Read the article, thanks.

In other words, foreign governments would rather buy dollars than buy our goods.

It sounds like a lose-lose proposition to me!

In America we can withstand food inflation far better than in other places because spending on food is a relatively small part of our average income. In other countries, expenditures for food are a large part of all expenditures. With food inflation, rioting starts overseas easily, especially when parents cannot feed their children. Now look back in history at inflation during the Carter administration and how things went in Iran.

We are living in dangerous times.

It is more a function of the dollar being a reserve currency. QE1 and QE2 created hot outflows of money, especially into third world areas. Too many dollars mean that all currencies that are pegged to it have less buying power.

Just curious. Dose anyone have any hard data on the percentage of stories that Debka manages to get right? I would like a serious answer if anyone has the info.

Keith Olbermann will have to work on a 2nd “documentary” for that one as well. Intro will be by Christine Amanpour.

Hollywood promos will feature songs and skits by “Special” Ed Schultz, and his Ed Heads...

International concerns increase over prospect of war

Analysts believe that, should Hezbollah take control of Lebanon, war with Israel will be almost unavoidable. Israel already fought a devastating war against Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006.

“Any Hezbollah-led government would face almost certain war with Israel,” Khoury said. “One scare scenario predicts that a Hezbollah-led government would be at war with Israel within weeks as Israel would most likely launch a pre-emptive attack if a March 8 government is able or allowed to form.”

Ulrichsen believes that an Israeli attack on Lebanon would have potentially disastrous repercussions for the greater Middle East. An Israeli intervention against Hezbollah would also heighten the tension with Iran, he said, particularly if Tehran were perceived to counter Israeli actions by extending material or armed support to Hezbollah or other spoiler groups in Lebanon.

“Inter-regional competition between Syria and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, led by Saudi Arabia, might also intensify, and contain the seeds of further instability if each channelled support to proxy elements within the domestic Lebanese scene,” Ulrichsen said.
