Rep. Michele Bachmann wins the night
Washington Times ^ | 01/26/2011 | John Creighton

Posted on 01/26/2011 10:20:33 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Representative Michele Bachmann’s “Tea Party” rebuttal of President Obama’s State of the Union speech was the most intriguing speech of Tuesday night, including the President’s and Representative Paul Ryan’s official GOP response.

The Minnesota congresswoman outperformed the night’s other featured speakers regardless of the trio’s content or delivery. She won the night simply by claiming a place on the national stage alongside the President and the GOP’s official spokesman. Her actions are the latest example of American’s growing disdain for experience and wisdom.

Rep. Bachmann is the Kim Kardashian of American politics. She has accomplished little more than being a celebrity. Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan, on the other hand, has offered up more meaty policy ideas than almost any current politician. His Road Map for America’s Future is a courageous contribution to the public dialogue whether one agrees or disagrees with his ideas.

There is little place for meaty ideas in modern American politics. Cable news producers loathe diving too far beneath the surface and reward politicians willing to play the game. Thus, the celebrity Bachmann is able to claim a share of the limelight on par with the hardcore policy wonk Ryan.

As a modern point of reference, my last check of Google trends listed Michele Bachmann in the top twenty. Paul Ryan’s name was absent.

RE: It would be easy to cast a POTUS vote for her.

She has always been my first choice for POTUS over the current lot. Unfortunately, people keep harping on the fact that Congressmen NEVER win the presidency ( as if this is carved ins tone ).

The fact she stands by her positions and is willing to face whatever comes at her is far more important than the "background" of any jelly-spined RINO who's introduced dozens of pieces of legislation that amount to little value.

(Bio from http://bachmann.house.gov/Biography/

Elected in 2006, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is the first Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. In only her first term, Congresswoman Bachmann developed a reputation as a "principled reformer" who stays true to her conservative beliefs while pushing for real reform of the broken ways of Washington. And, her strong advocacy for her constituents earned her a second term in Congress in November 2008. She is a leading advocate for bipartisan earmark reform and tax relief and is a staunch opponent of wasteful government spending. She is among the leaders in the U.S. House pushing for increased energy exploration in the U.S. to provide much needed relief at the pump for hard-working Americans and put our nation on the path to energy independence.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Bachmann served in the Minnesota State Senate. She was elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2000 where she championed the Taxpayers Bill of Rights. And, prior to that, Bachmann spent five years as a federal tax litigation attorney, working on hundreds of civil and criminal cases. That experience solidified Bachmann’s strong support for efforts to simplify the Tax Code and reduce tax burdens on family and small business budgets. Congresswoman Bachmann currently sits on the Financial Services Committee. This committee is tasked with the oversight of numerous financial sectors including housing, real estate and banking. This also gives the Congresswoman keen insight into the housing crisis and credit crunch, leading her to be a staunch opponent of the taxpayer-funded bailout of Wall Street. The 6th Congressional District of Minnesota contains parts of six counties, stretching from Stillwater past St. Cloud, including suburbs of the Twin Cities, which encompasses one of the nation’s largest financial services sectors, making Congresswoman Bachmann’s position on the Financial Services Committee particularly important.

Congresswoman Bachmann is a graduate of Anoka High School and Winona State University. Bachmann and her husband, Marcus, live in Stillwater where they own a small business mental health care practice that employs 42 people. The Bachmanns have five children, Lucas, Harrison, Elisa, Caroline, and Sophia. In addition, the Bachmanns have opened their home to 23 foster children, which has inspired Congresswoman Bachmann to become one of Congress’ leading advocates for foster and adopted children, earning her bipartisan praise for her efforts.

American’s growing disdain for experience and wisdom

While this is a true statement for many of the nations young people (the real reason so many kids fail to graduate or graduate ignorant), it is not the defining feature of Bachmann supporters as this invective implies.

To compare Bachmann to Kim Kardashian is a disgusting insult and shameful, John Creighton shows himself to be a nasty little man.

John’s need to belittle and make small Michele Bachmann— in order to lift Ryan— proves his smallness of character and intellect.

Hasn’t Bachmann actually had more formal education than Ryan?

*****She graduated from Winona State University and later received her J.D. degree from Oral Roberts University and an LL.M. degree in tax law from the William & Mary Law School. [8][dead link] She was a member of the final graduating class of Oral Roberts’ law school, and was part of a group of faculty, staff, and students who moved the ORU law school to what is now Regent University

The way to win a rigged game is simply not to play. She refuses to play by the establishment rules thus she wins.

Who is Kim Kardashian???? I watched neither the Kenyan entity Soetero nor the wussy girly man Paul Ryan - the latter because clearly he has not supported Michelle Bachmann for ANY house or committee leadership position nor did he show her proper respect by deferring to her in delivering the formal response to Soetero’s latest imitation of a zombie on qualudes. Ryan, Cantor and Boehner all appear to misunderstand just which side of their party saved them from having to grab their ankles for the next two years. They also act as if Michelle Bachmann’s Tea Party folks aren’t watching them. Not smart, on a lot of different levels.

Actually, that's "experience without wisdom". Continually doing something wrong does not make you more adept at doing it properly.
