“Now the brainy Wisconsin congressman tapped to give the official Republican response to the State of the Union address must also compete for attention with Tea Party star Michele Bachmann.”
********************************************************
That somehow reads rather tacky—as if Bachmann isn’t brainy, too.
Anyhoo, March 24th 2009 is when I started following Bachmann, she impressed me—this is my favorite clip of her to date:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvvfn4fLIRY
Bachmann posted a message on Facebook this morning congratulating Ryan on being picked to give the response and saying “he deserved it”.
I bet their responses are almost the same.
With Ryan and Bachmann on task, we are giving them a full court press. I expect some scoring by all.
Why do they (MSM) use incendiary language, “lobbing rhetorical bombs”, when describing opponents of the left but when describing the harsh, mean language from the left they say the left is “ardently standing up” to pressure from the right? I hope she has plans to run for president... she’s got my vote.
Good, Ryan is fiscon first-and-only. He and Cantor have already thrown socons under the bus.
Michele though is a true blue conservative through and through!
A little coordination couldn’t hurt.
Given identical input, the presentation on different networks should be enlightening.
This is not going to go well for Ryan. By giving the Liberal RINO GOP response....he looks like one of them. If Bachmann’s response is good....Ryan is even bigger polictican trouble
Though, Ryan cannot be as bad as Bobby Jindal was last time. Jindal was awful
The GOP needs to enter the 21st century with a truly modern rebuttal - with animated graphics, video clips of citizens adversely affected by Obama policies, and responses to tweets and perhaps one phone call each from a skeptical Democrat and Independent. Mix it up and make it so cutting edge that Obama’s will look dull and stodgy by comparison.
I heard that CNN will carry Bachman’s remarks.
The GOP in the House is already hinting they'll cave on spending and the debt.
2 rebuttals are better than 1.
renowned for lobbing rhetorical bombs at her opponents ?

If this writer knows anything about her opponents,, they aren’t exactly lily white..
The media loves picking on Bachmann and Palin including this muttinhead.
Well, have at it. She can handle it.
Yesterday freepers were going off on Cantor for reminding people that Ryan was the official Republican party response, while Bachmann was doing what others have done before giving her own answers.
They were responding to CNN’s attempt to make this into a “fight” between the GOP and the tea party. Now that Bachmann has talked up Ryan and said that there’s no rift here, this is really a good thing, as it means we could have more time on the networks for our side, plus if they run Bachmann they won’t be able to use that time to spin negatively on Ryan.
Hopefully, Bachmann won’t say anything that gets turned into the sound bite of the week and takes another chunk out of the time we have to accomplish things (I hope the same thing about Ryan — the media has been having a field day making the narrative about anything other than saving our country from crushing debt and overreaching government).
I suspect both will do a great job. This won’t be another Bobby Jindal moment. (Confession: I actually liked Bob McDonnell’s response last year, although some others weren’t enthused by it — I think this year’s response will be better).
She had made it clear that the TEA Party express asked her to speak after the SOTU.
She said this is NOT a rebuttal of his speech and it is not taking away from Paul Ryan’s address.
Why is Fox being so snarky? “brainy”
I like Ryan and think he’ll do fine.
Consider Bachmann’s comments a bayonet up the RINO’s butts to assure them that we’re watching.
No problem from me with two responses.
Very few will pay any attention to Ryan let alone Bachmann.
Why does Fox think they have a dog in this fight? Very strange. Bachman isn’t newsworthy enough to carry her rebuttal, but she IS newsworthy enough to attack for her temerity.
Frankly, let’s hope that BOTH Ryan AND Bachman give good speeches. Let’s hope they tear Obama’s empty lies to shreds.
